All Because Two People...

A long, long time ago (about 14 yrs ago) two young fellas (Ryan Rosenlof & Trent Nash) met for the first time. They had both traveled to a land far far away (Utah). Ryan, from the sunny west coast and Trent from the rainy northwest left behind all that they had previously known. They ventured upon a two year journey. A journey that would leave these two guys forever linked. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it what you will...
It is all because two people became the bestest of friends...
(Drawings by Brooklyn Nash)
Layton, Utah. Where it all started
Oh but the story didn't end there. These two boys returned home, found themselves a couple of brides and were married one week apart from one another. Trent and his cute wife started a family right away as Ryan and his waited a while. They celebrated their 5th year wedding anniversaries together with a trip to Hawaii. (Yes the spouses were allowed to come as well)
And life went on...
Cell phone plans had to be modified to accommodate all the text messaging and calls to one another. They celebrated birthdays together (Ryan's unforgettable #30 "Mohawk party") Babies were born. Families were expanded. One family started a successful, awesome boys clothing line, the other family just had a bunch of boys.

Always Amazing photography by Melissa Nash-

Could possibly be the best family picture yet!

What a better way to spend some of our summer days than with a visit from the Nash's. We always have a great time with this bunch! Lots of eating, playing, visiting, laughing and reminiscing.
The boys- Porter, Phearson and Otto

It wouldn't be a summer vacation without a visit to the beach

Great friends, fun times and lot of great memories! All because...

Not so Super

Superhero: A fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers ; also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person.
Mom = Superhero
There inevitably seems to be some days when I feel my inner superhero is at her best. I feel as if there is nothing I can't handle and or accomplish with all kids in tote. I plan precisely how I will handle all three kids in the desired public destinations and situations and have complete confidence in my "mommy superness".
However...
I'm afraid that every now and again I forget to put on my super mommy, superhero cape and things just don't quite work out the way I expected.
(Like the time I took my new baby, my 2 year old , 4 year old, to Disneyland all by my self in 90 degree weather! = not so super! - Have you ever tried to get a double stroller and two small children on and off a tram and around a theme park with a baby strapped to your sweaty chest?-)
So this last week I had a superhero moment gone bad. My brother and his new wife came to California to visit. The last day they were here we all went down to the beach to shop, walk and enjoy the great beach weather. Ryan was at work, so of course I had all the kids in tote. I was feeling pretty good... maybe even a little super mommyish coming on. We decided to go to In-N-Out for lunch. No problem. I had lots of help if needed, with my brother, his wife and my sister all there. I should have known that when we drove up and the place was PACKED with people that superhero or not things could potentially go bad quickly.
Food was ordered, a table was finally found, drinks were filled and the kids headed back to sit down. I waited patiently until all was said and done to fill one last sippy cup with water. With Tav in one arm, the diaper bag on the other shoulder I managed to fill the cup, one handed, without spilling and replace the lid... success!! Super mom in full effect I was thinking.
Then it happened.
As soon as Tav saw the newly filled sippy cup he grabbed for it, in return dropping the toy he had been holding. No problem right... super mom here can totally handle it!
I slowly began to squat down to retrieve the toy when all of the sudden I felt it happening. It was like slow motion and there was nothing I could do to stop it from coming. No super mommy power or cape was going to stop what was about to occur...

I Fell Down!!

Flat, smack on my tushie, with my baby in arm! Fortunately for me (not so much for him) there was a nice man that broke the rest of my fall so that I didn't end up completely on my back. (Just partially)

Totally Embarrassed!

Needless to say there were many nice people who came to my aid and made sure we were ok.

I suppose every superhero has an off day, and occasionally a sore right butt cheek as well!

Where do they come up with this stuff?

Porter: Mom, you know that there is no real Santa Claus.
Mom: What?! Who told you that? (as if just stabbed in the heart)
Porter: Nobody (a little nervous by my reaction I think)
Mom: Who brings you all your Christmas presents then?
Porter: (very matter of factly) The Easter Bunny.

Waking Up With Smiles

It is no secret that I am NOT a morning person. Never have been and I'm sure I never will be. I love to sleep and am pretty much convinced that I could sleep for days if given the opportunity.
So how incredibly lucky was I when my first born child was sleeping through the night before he was six weeks old. Then as a toddler he would sleep until 9:00am no matter what time he went to bed. A dream come true for this mommy. Sadly enough reality set in with the arrival of our next two children. They too slept well however were up at the usual 6:30-7 am as most children do. I have since learned to adjust (not like it just adjust) and I even manage to spit out a few words myself to answer their bright early morning enthusiastic requests for breakfast. But I have to admit... The sound of that first cry/whine or call for release from his crib, oh so bright and early, causes me to cringe. Luckily I have this to arise to.. Smiles And lots of them.

It makes this not so early bird of a Mom happy to start the day!

OVER and OVER!

Thank you Tav!

4th of July
The 4th of July was pretty mellow around these parts this year. With me scheduled to work and with no parties or family gatherings to attend we took advantage of what we do best... Just hang'n out!
We did a little bit of flag saluting...
Played with bubbles...
Tried out a new toy...
(a 4th of July surprise for the boys from Daddy)
Relaxed...
And enjoyed a little good old Bar-b-q'n...
As for fireworks, Dad and the boys watched the Annual Veterans Day Firework Display from the rooftop and I caught a glimpse of a few from a hospital window.
Just a Simple, Warm Summer, Festive, Family day!
