Just another day...

My brother, while visiting recently, asked me what a "typical" day was like. To my surprise I didn't really know how to answer that question. "Uhh I don't know?" I think was my reply. It wasn't until the very next day, and the next, and a few more days after that, that it came to me...
-UNPREDICTABLE-
That is what my typical day is like!
(For example)
Day 1# The kids had finished eating breakfast. I had just gotten everyone down from the table and cleaned up the residual cereal and milk. Tav was asking for more Cheerios so I thoughtfully placed a handful (or two) into a small cup for him to sit and eat out of. I turned on Playhouse Disney for the boys to watch and I returned to do the dishes. I should have known that things were a little too quiet and I REALLY should have known something was up once the giggling started. But...
It wasn't until I heard the giggling turn into full on laughter and the "thuds" that I turned the kitchen corner to find...

"The BOMB Game" (according to Porter) in full effect!

aka- Cheerios all over the floor and little boys flying all over the room.

Objective: Not to jump on a "Bomb" (aka Cheerio)

Well lets just say that I think these guys like to play dead because there sure were a lot of "Bombs" that went off!

Luckily I can always count on Tav to help clean up!

So once I had the boys pick up the remaining intact Cheerios I sent them out of the room so I could vacuum up the remaining (smashed) mess. Needless to say they didn't venture too far to find something else to occupy their time. I walk back into the kitchen to find the boys pulling out all the "good" dishes to play with. (Of course not the Tupperware/plastic dishes that they frequently play with).

Why do we buy toys anyways?

Playing nice right? Wrong.

Day #2- 7:00am. The boys crawl out the dogie door. Flip the slide over to make a pretend Pirate Ship. We are just glad they didn't make little Tavy walk the plank!

Day #3- Phearson is eating string cheese, gags, chokes, and procedes to throw up all over kitchen floor. I attempt to clean it up while fighting off the dog from licking it up and Tav from putting his fingers in it. I start the bath water, assist Phearson in a few more last efforts to empty his stomach into the toilet. Turn around to find...

Tav sitting in the bath, fully dressed and with a poopy diaper! (He apparently decided today would be a great day to climb into the bath by himself for the first time!)

So.... I get Tav out of bath, empty the water, quickly wash down the tub, refill the bath, place Phearson in, get Tav undressed and clean up soggy poop, and place him into the bath with his brother.

Wheew!

Wash both boys, get Phearson out of the bath, throw on his hooded towel and send him off to run/dry. Get Tav out of the bath and get a diaper on him when...

There is yelling. Yelling from Porter. "Mom! Mom! He is stuck! Come fast!"

Sigh...

I follow Porter into the kitchen to find...

I admit... I laughed a little.

Day #4- 100 degrees outside. The boys were playing in the house, in the AC, trying to stay cool. Once again I am in the kitchen doing the dishes and I relunctly tell the boys it's ok to rip the pages out of an old magazine (since Tav had already started to do so). After all it's not hurting anything and it is keeping them busy. So with my back to the kids I continue to hear paper ripping and children laughing. No big deal right? They are having a blast. I finish the dishes and turn around to find...

Not just ONE ripped up magazine... but many! Papers flying, kids laughing, sliding and rolling in magazine pages!

I think you get the picture!
Just another UNPREDICABLE day!
And just a few "PREDICABLES"...
An UNPREDICATBLE, out of the blue, random hit from this little guy

And some PREDICABLE soda stealing from any of my children!
So my answer to you Colby,
Is Unpredictable, that is what a typical day is like around here!!

A Star Wars Birthday

So in the middle of all the family sickness Porter celebrated his 5th Birthday. He had been looking forward to his "Star Wars Birthday" all year long and so we decided not to postpone it any longer and go ahead and party Jedi style! Although not as organized as I had originally planed with "official" Jedi training and the surprise Darth Vader visit/fight, I think we pulled it off and Porter claims it has been his best Birthday yet!

The day of his Birthday, Porter was treated with a fun Birthday cupcake cake from Grammy
We spent most of the day at various party stores preparing for the big Party Day
He received his first official Birthday present in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Bell
A Star Wars, Clone Trooper Helmet!! And spent most of the remaining day and night defending the galaxy.
Then...
The Day Came!
Friends were invited to join forces with Porter and the Jedi
and the Light sabers were made
Jedi masks were provided (Anakian and Obi One)
The food was served
Galactic Pizza
Skywalker Salads
Chewbacca Chips
and
Yoda Soda (Lime Sherbet & Sprite)
The Star Fighter cakes
Darth Vader's Death Star was destroyed with water ballons
And with a bat
There were LOTS of light saber fights!

And many fun "Party People"

Thanks to all who celebrated Porter's big day with him! And A Big Happy Birthday to my little Jedi Porter!!

And Finally...
(we hope!!!)
A case of Roseola!

Just Another Reason...

Sick or not Sick...
Not to let the children sleep in YOUR bed
(and that was WITH a pull-up on!)
I'm thinking of investing in laundry detergent.
