Plan "B" Birthday

So I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to celebrate Phearson's birthday this year. Ever since Porter's birthday all I have heard about from this kid was how "fun" his star wars birthday party was going to be and all about how he was going to have the coolest Darth Vader cake. Of course the day crept up and I hadn't planned anything or even given much thought about his Darth Vader cake (poor middle child). Even until the morning of the big day I was still at a loss about what to do.

We finally decided to do your typical pizza party at Round Table since we are regulars there and Monday nights are Family night ($5.00 pizzas) and just have some sort of cake/desert. To my amazement Phearson was totally on board with the idea! He even gave me the go to make "cake pops" instead of the much anticipated Darth Vader cake. So... We called the troops together last minute to meet us for a little birthday bash.

Unfortunately....

When we got to Round Table it was completely packed with not one seat to spear let alone room for our crazy crowd.

So...

It was on to Plan "B" Birthday

Costco Pizzas and The Park

Thanks to all our family and friends who partied with us last minute to celebrate this kid's big day!! (And to Grammie for making the funnest cupcake cake!) Who needs a Darth Vader cake when you have family, friends, presents and you very best girl friend!

The Birthday Boy and his most favorite girl, Collin

Pizza!!

These two were seriously inseparable..

And partied together until the sun went down!

It turned out to be a great 3rd Birthday!!

What should I be for Halloween?
I have been thinking about what costume would fit me best and have come up with a few options so far.
Sally
(from the Nightmare before Christmas)
Big eyes, long straight hair, pale white...
check, check, and check

Growing up (and occasionally still) my Dad always called me "Olive" from Popeye

The Wicked Witch of the West We have very similar pointed noses and I'm sure at one time or another my children have called me a "witch"
Princess Leia
If you have ever been to my house and around my boys well, you get it.
Wonder Woman
Because this is frequently who I think I'm supposed to be these days

Or a Naughty Nurse

It's a given. Besides... every nurse has a little naughty in them right? (Keep you minds out of the gutter folks!)

I am determined to dress up this year at some point. Even if it is just to stand at my front door and hand out candy!

Look Real Close

What is wrong with this picture?
Yes your eyes aren't lying. Several of our beloved "army men" have presented to us, beheaded and disarmed... literally. Phearson could not believe what he was seeing as he pulled his favorite army guys out of his "bucket of soldiers".
Who could have done such a thing you ask?
Well after a bit of research and some tough interrogation techniques,
The culprit fessed up!
(Although he asked that his identity remain undisclosed)

The jury is still out on this man's punishment.

First Day Of School... Take Two

Today was Phearson's Big Day...
And boy was he ready! Phearson has been dying to go to school for a long time now. When Porter was in preschool Phearson would occasionally try to sneak off into Porter's class, I think hoping mommy wouldn't notice, so that he could stay. So needless to say today he was so excited for his big preschool debut!
He woke up with nothing but smiles...

We got to school where he headed strait for the name tags (he knows the drill), walked right into his classroom (he knew exactly where to go), and hung his backpack up.
He dished out a big "Bye Mom!!" and never looked back!
And just in case you are wondering if I was a little bit sad that he was so happy to go...
My answer is
"No!"
I'm glad that he loves preschool just as much as Mommy does!!

Five Year Old Faker

I should have known better this morning as a walked into the boys room to wake Porter up for school. I wasn't all that surprised to find Porter with his head in "The Bowl" retching. I should provide a little background information about this kid. From the beginning Porter has always been a "barfy" child. He had reflux as a baby and has been know to, on many occasion growing up, throw up for no reason at all. He has become somewhat of a pro you could say. He will get up in the middle of the night, go into the bathroom, lift the toilet seat, THROW UP, wipe his face off, get a drink of water and return to bed as if nothing has happened. We sometimes don't even know it has happened until all is said and done or until the next morning when he tells us. So it has become no surprise or alarm to us as parents when Porter throws up. We have just labeled him our "RANDOM THROWER UPPER". (I suppose we should maybe have that checked out huh) He has also been know to, on occasion, throw up off the side of the top bunk because he is "too tired to get down" so it has also become common for us to send him to bed with "The Bowl". So I did have my doubts this morning, to whether or not he may really be sick. Normally I would think nothing of it but since all the kids were sick a few nights back I was a little more cautious. Of course he climbed back into his covers and stated that he didn't want to go to school. I asked him if he really didn't feel good and he responded "No" and once again that he didn't want to go to school. I gave the whole "If you are really sick and not going to school, you can't play and will have to rest all day long" spill. He said he wanted to take a shower to see if he would "feel better". He still said he didn't feel good afterwards so I told him he didn't have to go to school. Just as I suspected a few hours or so later he was wrestling/playing with his brothers. I asked him if he was feeling better, to which he replied... "I wasn't really sick mom, I just didn't want to go to school today." Are you kidding me! I don't know what happened. He had a great 2nd day, loved school, his teacher and his new friend Matthew. Sigh... Looks like it's going to be a long school year. (Feeling really good about the preppy Kindergarten rather than Kindergarten choice right now!)

First Day of School

"Picture Perfect"

Well Almost...
That was of course after being Severely Irritated with being woken up at 7:00am for the 8:00am school start. (What can I say... he takes after his mom)
Then trying to decide whether to wear the "button" shirt (polo) which he hates or the over sized "school T-shirt" that wasn't quite what he had expected.

But the support troops were rallied (although a bit confused I think)

And it was off to school we went. Where he could barley keep his eyes open still.

And then it was time to say goodbye...
Which only brought on Tears* Tears* and grasps of desperation
But don't you worry. Just as I expected, when that school door opened to dismiss these first time preppy kindergartners, my picture perfect little guy was back!! Even excited to go back tomorrow!

I just hope he doesn't expect Chick-fil-a from mom

and Yogurtland with Grammy and cousins everyday after school!
