As most of you know
Phearson has
ALWAYS been a
BIG pacifier lover... the kid was hooked! We have been talking for a while now about saying good bye to the pacifier but frankly, it just made life a whole lot easier for a busy mom and dad. It was the ultimate comfort for this little boy and pretty much would make anything better.
BUT....
You know it is time to move on when other people start pointing it out! For example... a recent conversation...
Random person: "So how old is he (Phearson)?
Ryan: "He will be 2yrs old at the end of September."
Random person: Apologetically- "Oh.. (long pause) Yea, we had a hard time taking the pacifier away from our son too."
NICE!
Anyways, we decided it was time. I cut the tip of the pacifier off and the next time he asked for his beloved "pappie" that is what he got,"A broken pacifier". I wasn't really sure what to expect since Porter never really became attached to a pacifier and this was a first at our house. So what is a blogger mom to do? Bust out the camera and start snapping away of course.
Phearson checking out the "Broken
Pappie"

Phearson sad at having a "Broken
Pappie"

Phearson now Mad!
(and threw the pacifier on the floor, which I didn't get a picture of)
After rethinking it... he went back and got the pacifier and tried to make it work anyways.
FINALLY making the big move and putting the "Broken
Pappie" in the trash

The dreaded bedtime came and he had a bit of a hard time trying to "cope" without the "
pappie". There was no crying however, which I was surprised about! Just lots of tossing and turning in bed,
wandering aimlessly around the house, laying on the floor and putting random things in his mouth including his blanket.

But without too long we had SUCCESS!!!

Until 6:00am the next morning when he woke up
HYSTERICALLY crying for the "
pappie" and woke up everyone else in the house as well. Plus the occasional "stalking" poor
Tav as he sucks happily away on his pacifier, overall though I would have to say that things have gone way smoother than I had expected!
We still have SMILES!!!

aww he is so cute.. Looks like he is going to do well. He looks so cute in his big kid bed!
I haven't looked at your blog for a while. Your kids are so stinkin cute! I loved your Pity Party post. My "friend" tends to do this sometimes too, especially on Sundays for some reason. Oh yeah, cuz "her" husband sleeps all the time too! :)
It makes me sad to see little Phearson so sad but he did really well over here today. Only asked for his pappie a couple of times and went down for his nap after I rocked him a little while (Grammy's perogitive)without any tears. So cute!!
Okay...I'm right around the corner. I was just thinking today how I was going to do it! I might be calling you for some tips.
awww poor Phearson! but sounds like he did really well! he is so stinkin cute! hope the bed time contiues to go well=]
Very impressive! He was so cute last week when I told him pappie was yucky and he would look at me with that big smile, say yucky, and put it right back into his mouth. Tav better watch out!
Congratulations! It seemed to go so smoothly!
I think he did really well for being so attached to the pappy. One night is pretty good for him to get over it. We had a hard time with Cody too. But he seems to be okay and he likes to tell people what happened to it so he's coped very well. It's a major plus that he knows not to steal Tav's too! I still remember Cody taking Phearson's and hiding in their room so he could take a few sucks on it!
I love that he still tried to make it work. So cute.
