Modern Day Delmia

To Facebook or Not to Facebook...
That is the question.
Many of you know that I am not on facebook, we have had this conversation before. I have been debating whether or not to join for some time now. It's not that I don't think that I wouldn't enjoy "connecting and sharing with the people in my life" however I have to admit that I have some reservation.
Is it just curiosity that has me interested? Do I really have the time to invest? Can I really keep up with all of my facebook "friends". Will I neglect my children, my house, my responsibilities because I am constantly checking "my page" to see what everyone is doing? Do I really care what everyone is doing all the time? Do I really have the time to keep up with people I haven't seen or talked to in years? (I can't even remember to call the one friend I do have?) Do I even want to? Do I worry about hurting some one's feelings if I do not accept them as my friend. I mean does anyone even really do that or is everyone a friend on "facebook'?
It seems crazy to me how there is just something that keeps nagging at me to try it out. Was it the 12 emails I received in one day requesting to "be my friend" on facebook? Do I feel like I am missing out on something by not being in the facebook "mix". Do I feel that modern day technology is passing me by?
Honestly, I just don't know.
Am I crazy for being so crazy about this?
Probably!
Don't count me out just yet.

Everyday I think about canceling my facebook. I'm not totally the biggest fan. However, I do look at it often enough. I still think maybe if I didn't have it, I would be able to put my energy somewhere else? Dilemma indeed!

I know how you feel. I stayed away for a while and actually made fun of it. However, it is kind of interesting. It does get a little lame when people post lame things like "I just went to the bathroom." Really, who cares! But some of it is fun and the good thing about it, is you don't have to post everyday. I feel your dilemma!

Speaking from a person who felt the same way and gave in I do admit that I kind of like it now. It's cool to just hear what's going on right now that people don't post in their blogs. I do look at it about once a day, quickly tho.

I'm with Megan. I think about canceling all the time... but for me, it's because it sucks me in, and I waste time. It's fun to see what old friends are doing, etc... but...

I check it about once a day. That is the only way we found out the Jodi was expecting. I hate all the quizzes and games people play. I really don't care about that. I'm still undecided about it.

personally I love it. The reason is bc I am a bad friend. I never have time to go out with friends, or catch up on a phone call. At church I am stuck in primary. basically I don't have a social life at all. So, i love catching up on facebook, it is the only social life that I have. And I love talking to family on there, especially cousins that I don't normally socialize with. It is nice knowing what people are up to with out going out of my way to find out. Frankly I think it is brilliant and perfect for the modern busy working mom.

I agree with most of these comments. I made fun of it and fought it for a while, but after so many friends urging me to do it I caved in. I enjoy it because I can quickly see what's going on. There are some updates that are really stupid, but I just skip those. There are more people on FB than blogging and it takes less time. Well said by Mama Nash that it is perfect for the modern busy working mom. Beware of the time sucking though because it does happen!

I love facebook!! I actually like it a lot better than blogging. I don't have to write a ton about my pictures. I can just upload them, decide who gets to view them, and I'm done. It's also fun to see what everyone is up to all at once.. less time consuming than checking everyone's blogs. Just get one!! Everyone is doing it... You want to be cool, right?? haha.

Overwhelming for me, but I barley know how to blog.

everyone is doing it...you don't want to be one of those people that doesn't do it, and then kids point there finger at you and laugh. avoid the humiliation. just do it. do it.

That is so funny that you wrote that about Facebook. I was on for 2 days and have never been on again...no time, too overwhelming, past people I don't want to hear from, don't care and my husband HATES it.
