I suppose this particular restaurant deserves some credit in the role of this "craziest thing". Their kids coloring books are nice and have multiple pages and activities. We were seated at a nice round table (with nice arms length, so the kids couldn't really touch each other) with windows all around. This particular restaurant also serves yummy biscuits with apple butter while you order and wait for your food.
It was pleasant. So pleasant in fact that I didn't even realize it. The kids colored. We talked. We watched the rain out the windows and we ate. It was great.
I noticed a couple sitting a few tables away watching us and paying their bill. Next thing I knew they were getting up to leave when the woman started to approach our table.
"Here we go", I thought to myself and started to muster up my polite "Yes I know smile" as I waited for usual "Wow, you sure do have your hands full!". Or "Wow, three boys huh!"
But then it happened.... the craziest thing...
The nice woman kindly said "Can I just say that you have such a well behaved little family".
WHAT!? What did she just say? I think I might have turned around to see if she was talking to someone behind me. I'm sure that my huge eyes and the surprised looks between Ryan and I threw the poor woman off but I seriously couldn't believe my ears. All I could come up with was "Thank you! Thank you. Thank you" over and over.
But as the couple walked away I thought for a minute. Wait, this lunch HAS been pleasant and for once my kids HAVE been very well behaved! I think I heard angels singing for just a moment. Check please!
Anyways, I'm sure it was just a fluke or the stars were magically aligned that day (because it hasn't happened quite the same since) but it really made me think. We are almost there!

Jealous! Maybe someday we will get there. I thought maybe they were going to pay the bill for you, wouldn't that have been icing on the cake!
I love this story! We have those moments every once in a while too. I'm usually a little nervous to even say anything about it for fear that we will be jinxed. Maybe one day we will be able to go to dinner with you guys and all the kids will sit and chat and laugh and we will do the same. One day... *dazes off dreamily*
I'm so happy for you! Sounds like a wonderful day, and hearing about it made me smile :)
Such a great story. The boys are so unbelievably cute, I can't stand it.
