Mom Tips

I don't know about you but I am always looking for things to help entertain my children. I swear that every other phrase out of Porter's mouth these days is "I'm Bored". So when I saw these easy make "Sponge Ball Square Arms" in the Family Fun Magazine I couldn't resist giving it a try.
Instructions
For each ball, you'll need 3 plain kitchen sponges fresh from the package and still slightly damp. Use scissors to cut each sponge lengthwise into 5 strips about a half-inch wide. Stack the strips as shown.
Loop a piece of strong string around the center of the stack and pull tightly. Double-knot the string and trim the excess.
And Whaa-laa!
It really couldn't be any easier and there is so many different things to do with them. For instance (as the magazine suggests)
For a fast cool-off game, have two players stand a few feet apart, each beside a bucket of water. See how many times they can toss the ball back and forth, taking a step apart and dunking the
ball in a bucket before each throw.
Or as my kids did, just throw them at each other, or the dog, shoot hoops with them, mop up the ground... etc. You could even use them as a bath toy. Tav got a kick out of just squeezing the water out of them over and over.

And I figured since I was on the topic of "Mom Tips" I would also give away one of my other little "Mom Secrets" that has come in very handy.
So many times I am out and about or will be meeting up with friends for lunch somewhere (Classic example- Chick-fil-la) and dread getting all the kids out of the car only to try and wrangle, wrestle, plead and threaten them to stay by me, don't touch anything or beat the crap out of each other just so I can place our order. (Is it just me, or does this sound the least bit familiar to anyone else?) Then you have to somehow get all the food and kids to a table safely, without spills.

So what I have started doing is...
Simply go through the drive through to get the food. This way the kids are all still strapped to there seats and the radio or toys can distract or entertain them. Your food is handed to you all packed up in a nice large bag that you can just grab and go. The kids can even help carry the food in, if in individual bags, or carry their own drinks. Once again...
Whaaa-laa!
You can make your way right to a table and start eating!
Mom Tips = Happy Moms!
It's all about making a Busy Mom's life just a little bit easier!

too funny about ordering drive thru and then going in. The only thing is that the drive thru line is usually a lot longer than ordering inside. Love the sponge balls and ryans new hair that i saw for the first time at church today (missed you there). I knew you must be thrilled:) He takes his bets very seriously!
