You know how sometimes you have one of "those" conversations with you kids. One of those talks that make you think... "I sure wish that I could save this conversation" and bust it out again in about 15 years or so. Well I recently had one of those conversations with Porter. It went something like this.
Porter: Mom, do I have school tomorrow?
Mom: "Yes Porter, you do."
Porter: Groan.. "Why do I have to go to school EVERYDAY?"
Mom: Get used to it Porter, you have 12 more years of school everyday."
Porter: Another groan.. "And then what? Do I get to go to work?" (I love the fact that he used the term "get" to go to work.. if he only knew)
Mom: "Well you will probably go on a mission or to college."
Porter: "Do I HAVE to go AWAY to college?"
Mom: "Well it depends on what college you decide to go to but you can always come back home to visit."
Porter: "I don't want to go AWAY mom. I will never want to go away from home. I want to stay here with you and dad.
Mom: "Don't worry Porter I'm pretty sure you will probably change your mind by the time you are 18 or so... just wait."
First of all let me just say that I don't know whether to be flattered or scared. I love that fact that he thinks he will want to say with me forever but scared to death at the thought of having my 30 something year old son still living a home.
For now however I'm going to let him just think that he will never want to go away. I know that one day, before I even know it, he won't be able to get away fast enough... and when he does I will for sure bust out our little conversation and remind him how much he really wants to stay.
(Because that will work, right?)

love this. and love your plans of showing him!!
Isn't it funny how we never listened to our parents and now we see their wisdom after we have kids of our own! I'm so glad that there weren't blogs back then for our parents to show us later...I am afraid of what they would reveal.
Your posts are so creative. Looks like you had a great Valentine's Day. You and Megan are quite the team! We did the candles and stuff but our dinner was pizza I think! Your boys can get crazy but they are so loveable. I just love seeing them in the morning. I know how you feel about lack of pink around your house. And I LOVE the shoes.
