It has been one whole week since little Tav arrived and I thought I would take a minute to look back on the weeks events. As most of you know I was supposed to be induced last Tuesday at 7:00am. I called the Hospital at 5:00am that morning to make sure there was a bed for me and sure enough... Labor and Delivery was full! So after being told to call back to check at 8:00am and then again at 10:00am we were finally given the green light to come in at 12:00 noon. My water was broken around 3:30pm and things started happening at lightning speed. I was able to get a wonderful epidural and labor progressed quickly. I dilated from a 6 to 10 in about 10 minutes. Tav did end up having the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and gave us a bit of a scare with a dipping heart rate. Luckily it only took a couple of pushes and Tav was born at 7:09pm! It was so great to finally see my sweet little guy and to hold him in my arms! Thanks to our wonderful nurses and a great OBGYN who took excellent care of us!!

The boys came to see us in hospital and I wasn't sure what their reactions would be. Porter was instantly in love with the baby and it was the sweetest thing to see him with Tav. I think he was a bit confused at first to see mommy's "still pregnant looking tummy" but at the same time to see the baby laying there. (How to explain to a 3yr old that mommy's "uterus" needs to shrink back? He thought the baby was in mommy's "tummy"... a whole other post!) Then there was
Phearson who was just happy to look out the Hospital window. He did come over and yank the beanie off of
Tav and rub the top of his head roughly for a minute. "Softly" has become a common word directed at
Phearson this week and he is learning to love his brother.... slowly!

Loving?... His new baby brother
Just another typical family picture for us!
Needless to say we are all adjusting to having a new baby in the house but are enjoying having our little man finally here. Night time has been interesting and we are all learning together. (Example- Night #1... Tav fussing because he is hungry... waking up Phearson who then thinks it is morning and ready to start the day.... Phearson finally put back into crib and screaming to get back out... wakes up Porter who yells for dad and is completely irritated that Pheason is screaming because he wants to sleep!... = The Whole Family Awake at 2:00am!! and poor dad yet to sleep at all that night!) It has been fun to say the least! I do want to thank my WONDERFUL hubby who pretty much took over night shift since we came home so mommy (who was VERY sore this time around and a little slower to recover) could rest and feel better! I owe you babe!
Tav had his first Dr. appt yesterday and is doing great. Weighing in at 6lbs and 13oz. He was pretty jaundice by day #4 and has been living under fluorescent lights 24hrs a day since Saturday. Today he will be able to come out of the lights. I am so excited to have my baby to hold and cuddle once again!!

What would you look like after days under fluorescent lights?

Here are just a few other "fun" happenings that are going on around our house. Did I mention that there is a battle for attention going on in our home?
Poor Daddy brought to the ground after being hit unexpectedly in the "privates" while playing with Phearson...
...by this guy. And when asked why he did it, he simply answered "I wanted you to put Phearson down"
Half dressed Phearson drinking water off the ground... what, mom and dad to busy to get him a cup?
We love our not so little family!
