Because I'm The Mom... Thats Why!

Remember back in the day when your Mom used to bust out with the "I'm the Mom, that's why!" line. Somehow now matter what was going on it seemed to work. I mean what really can you say to that? Well the other day we had the whole family in the car. Porter and Phearson sit in the back and usually bicker back and forth about something insignificantly random and of course this day was no different. Phearson was laughing at Porter for no reason, Porter was annoyed and continued reaching across the empty seat between them(meant to separate the two) to grab Phearson's arm and proceed to twist it as hard as he could(with teeth clenched and growling) until Phearson began to wine or cry with pain. Then the second Porter would let go Phearson would begin to laugh again at him. This fun demonstration of brotherly love continued on and on as Ryan and I would take turns telling them to stop, as we attempted engage in our own adult conversation. For the hundredth time I told the two to stop and told Porter that he was going to break Phearson's arm and once again attempted to return to my conversation. Porter quickly responded with a sassy, know it all, "NO mom... only scissors will break it!" And that is when it happened. Instead of going with the classic, dependable, sensable, "Because I'm the mom and I said so, that's why" line... I turned around in my seat and answered "Yes YOU can break it, I work in a HOSPITAL, I KNOW!" What? "Did I just say that?" I asked Ryan who was looking at me a bit puzzled. To witch he responded, "Yes you did, what exactly does THAT mean anyways?" Although there was no response from the boys, and the car was quiet(probably due to confusion) I think that from now on I will stick with the basic... "I'm The MOM and I said so, That's Why!" Just to be on the safe side.

Well, that's the joy of having children!! Larry and Kerry would go at it pretty much the same.. Thank goodness, no broken bones.
Just hang in there and make them "tow the rope". They can't see now that someday when one is going on his mission, the other will say, yah, I'll miss you!!!
That time will be here sooner than you think..

Too funny! Maybe that's the ticket! We just have to confuse them and then we get that sweet silence! :)

That is so funny! I bet Porter was thinking about it and never really realized you worked there. When you leave you should tell him okay, Mommy's going to work at the hospital". Cody definitely would know what it meant if I said that since he's been to the hospital a few times(ER). You never know, maybe he will start to believe you. Sometimes you just have to put the image in their little minds.

I LOVE your stories and I double love that we have kids the same age! Every story you tell about your kids, I am laughing and nodding my head! Unless mine are sleeping, there is no adult conversation. Ohhhh just think, one day we will miss these stories.
